Mahogany-veneered Portico Clock

Height:
51 cm.
Maker:
Ferey au Havre
Price:
£2950

A French Portico Clock and a classic and beautiful example of what was made in France at the beginning of the nineteenth century, the so-called Empire period (Regency). The mahogany veneers are of the highest quality and have a warm patina. The case has been restored by a specialist, while the movement was done by us. The capitals, basements and bezel are finished to a high standard and have their original gilding. The enamel chapter ring, a typical Empire characteristic, is sound and bears the name of the maker, FEREY AU HAVRE. The movement is typically French, in this case with anchor escapement and compensation pendulum, and a half-hour striking train on a bell.
